Although in a time of transition, the adventure doesn't slow down for Tap and Pepper Andrews. This one starts out with a bang – literally – and gallops uphill from there.

Tap has taken a job as brand inspector for a Wyoming territory cattle association, a very important position where cattle are left to roam the range and the brand was the only proof of ownership on livestock. One minute he's fending off rustlers and foiling ambushes, the next finds him aiding a group of Texas ranchers and trying to clear himself of murder charges – but this time he has human backup on the trail – an old companion from his wild days, who receives Tap's story of finding the Lord with mixed amusement and amazement. Pepper also is given the opportunity to offer blessing for cursing to someone from her past.
