Revelation is the sequel to Apocalypse. Some of the characters are the same, others are new. The director is different, but the basic setup is the same. Unfortunately, the budget is also similar, so the production values are also similar to those in the first film. As in the first film, Jack and Rexella Van Impe (whose ministry bankrolled the production) and John Hagee put in appearances through videotapes which the characters watch. However, there are improvements over the first film. There are not as many special effects shots, and so those which are included are generally of better quality. The dialogue has also improved. In fact, some of the characters get some real "zinger" lines. (On the negative side, the plot might be interpreted to mean that having a sense of humour is incompatible with Christian faith. That charge has been levelled against Christians before, so it is unfortunate that a Christian film, however inadvertantly, is aggravating the stereotype.) | |
