I acquired a new book last night that I breezed through. It's Arana's Visitor by Julie Rollins. You might be interested in taking a look at it. The author's web site includes excerpts from her books.
One thing that sets Arana's Visitor apart is Julie's love for birds and flying. Her "good guy" aliens are birdlike beings six-limbed rock doves, more precisely. Imagine humans being carried, not by Tolkien's eagles, but by a huge white pigeon wearing a cloak, or by a giant duck. This is sci fi for animal lovers think of Ransom's adventures with the seal-like creatures in Lewis's Out of the Silent Planet.
Another thing about it is that it's blatantly, in-your-face Christian. The main "bird" character receives Christ early in the book, thereby giving us a Christian with alien "superpowers." (Or is flying a superpower for a bird?) A woman headed for an abortion clinic "sees" her unborn baby and decides the boyfriend who gave her money to get the abortion is a jerk. And the main human character's English Bible and Hebrew/Greek Bible wind up on another planet, along with the alien's Bible translation.
The human characters are genuinely human the Christian main character, David, explains to his non-Christian roommate that he lied to save the alien's life, and David's driving isn't always legal or safe. Also, there are no church scenes this is Christianity operating at home, in bars, and at the park. (October, 2005)
