Stephen R. Lawhead has led a varied life. He is the son of Robert and Lois, the husband of Alice Slaikeu, and the father of Ross and Drake. He's lived in such locations as Kearney and Lincoln, Nebraska; Memphis, Tennessee; Chicago, Illinois; Oxford, England; and central Austria. His career has taken him from hanging drapes, to editing Campus Life Magazine, to managing the band DeGarmo & Key, to writing sci-fi/fantasy and historical fiction novels.
Lawehead's first series of novels was the fantasy set The Dragon King Trilogy. He added a few science fiction notches to his pen with the novel Dream Thief and the two books of the Empyrion Saga. With young sons in the house, he and his wife wrote quite a few children's books. Stephen continued in the fantasy vein with his Arthurian Pendragon Cycle and his Song of Albion series. Branching out into hisorical fiction, he wrote Byzantium, The Celtic Crusades series, and his rendition of the life of Patrick: Son of Ireland. Then, going back to his musical roots and showing that the apple didn't fall too far from the tree, Stephen and his son Ross are working together on a series of comic books and a series of novels for musician/producer Eddie DeGarmo's !Hero universe.
