What We Believe

Do I have to be a Christian to be in Christian Fandom?

No.

What kind of definition are you using for "Christian?"

We use the term "Christian" in the C.S. Lewis Mere Christianity sense. I.e., "Christian" encompasses members of the Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant faiths who adhere to the classic creeds of the Christian church.

I don't belong to a group that falls into that definition of "Christian." Aren't you being narrow-minded?

Due to past incidents where discussion of this subject sidetracks the whole group, discussion of this subject is strongly discouraged at Christian Fandom meetings. Please, whether you are Mormon or Urantian or Baha'i, please observe this courtesy. After the meeting, or during a Christian Fandom party, this topic is fair game.

What if I'm not in one of the above groups?

In most instances, not a problem. Christian fandom meetings and parties are open to all. Atheists, Mormons, neo-pagans, Herbangelists, whatever – all are welcome, with the stipulation that the framework of meetings is "Mere Christianity" as described above, and if you wish to debate the merits of Mormonism or Urantia vis a vis orthodox (lower case "o") Christianity, you are welcome to do so at the parties or in any after-meeting gatherings. However, we strongly discourage such debates at the meetings themselves, because they invariably take up massive amounts of precious time, and distract from the main purpose of the meetings.

As you can see, this is a lot of ground to cover. In the scant hour we usually have for these meetings, there really isn't time to get into the subtleties of topics such as the Mormon polytheistic deity system being fundamentally different than the Trinity of Christianity.
